The halfway mark

It's been one month! Four weeks plus almost five. And minrui is starting to miss SG food! For the first few weeks people wanted to go eat Chinese buffet and minrui was like, "It's only been 1+week, i'm not missing sg food YET." But now i want to eat spinach, steamed fish, and drink soup! 黑鸡汤、咸菜汤、苦瓜汤、西洋菜汤、老黄瓜汤！Rawrs.

Anyway, a typical day (for minrui) goes like this:

• minrui's hp alarm rings
• sirong is awakened and she calls minrui
• minrui finally wakes up and she stops the alarm
• minrui falls back to sleep OR whines about not wanting to wake up
• sirong gets up to wash up
• sirong comes back and minrui gets up to wash up
• eat breakfast, pack lunch, change into work attire
• catch the shuttle bus to work (minrui missed the bus twice so far, and both times it's not cos she couldn't wake up but cos she thought she had a lot of time and was chatting with sirong -.-)


• 30-40min to play in the theme park before starting work proper (minus the time taken to walk to our workplace, it's just nice for 2 rides. Can squeeze 3 rides if we run from ride to ride.)
• reach workplace, clock in, apply sunblock, open the ride (fill the water container, check stuff..)
• spend the day at different positions, without much time to go toilet
• all the time yearning for the 30min break (which normally comes anytime between 1pm and 4pm, but can sometimes come at crazy times too)
• close ride (clean up), clock out
• run for the shuttle bus OR if we just missed the bus, run to play rides in the theme park and then run to catch the next bus


• normally minrui is back before winnie and sirong (about 1-2h earlier)
• bathe and then eat or if tired and hungry, eat first
• surf the net while having dinner
• sirong comes back and whines, "minrui~~~" and minrui goes -.- "what?" and it will be about tiredness, hungriness, or mean supervisor
  
• if minrui has yet to bathe, she bathes when the two come back, which means there's music while bathing (nothing to do with the two, there's another girl who sings! Oh cos when the two come back, it's when the rest of the people staying in this level come back. This pretty much means that minrui bathes and eats all by herself most of the time.)
• discuss our nyc/dc/west coast trips OR research on places to visit OR chatting (and bitching) with our level people OR go one level down to chat (and bitch) OR surf net and chat on msn OR come here and blog
• do laundry
  
• sleep

And sirong summarizes, "i everyday just wake up, go to work, come back, bathe, and sleep."

As you can see, our hobby is running. Every day we run to catch the shuttle bus to and fro work. But running is only our number two hobby. Our number one hobby is walking. (Remember minrui's entry on Willow Lawn? That's only ONE of the places we've walked.) Sirong says that the amount of distance she had walked is enough to cover the whole of SG. Our legs are our trusty source of transportation. Most people here drive. But now gas prices is high so many of them take bus. But we're not sure of the bus routes and we're too stingy to spend $1.25 on bus fare. So we walk, walk, walk, walk, and walk.

And then we become very aunty here. We compare the prices across the different supermarkets! What to do? No money! And we go grocery shopping like twice a week. Minrui is sick and tired of grocery shopping! But we can't help it, cos we need to constantly replenish our supply of milk and bread, since bread is a perishable and we have no space in our fridge to buy more milk at one go.

Minrui is sick and tired of doing laundry too. She washes her clothes everyday!! When the rest only wash their clothes like once every two or three days! (And minrui hand wash while most of the rest use washing machine.) Cos minrui wears bathing suit (swimsuit) to work and she finds it very disgusting to repeatedly wear it without washing. Minrui's mum must be so surprised to find out that she is actually a clean freak! Hurhur. Minrui is a pig! Cos people normally think of pigs as dirty when in fact they are quite clean! But tomorrow minrui is going to wear what she wore today, cos she intelligently forgot to hang her other set of clothes up to dry so it is still wet.

And after one month in US minrui has one thing to say about discrimination against the blacks: 冰冻三尺非一日之寒. And minrui shall 点到为止 cos this kind of thing 只可意会不可言传 (and winnie just learnt this phrase a few weeks ago, who would have thought that people come US to improve their mandarin!)

And minrui just got pangseh-ed by the fellowship-ers (who all came back late!) cos her neighbour (=winnie) told them that minrui was sleeping when these few days minrui has been sleeping at 2+ 3+am and it's not even 1am now (and for that matter at the time when she told them it was even earlier). Rawrs. But minrui is not angry with winnie for giving wrong info, minrui is angry with the fellowship-ers who pangseh-ed her! (Cos they conveniently missed tuesday's too.) Angweeeeee!

Minrui thinks that this entry is very complain-y and she shall just stop here. Another 5 weeks of work!
